Leave In Conditioners

For your hair to be manageable and beautiful then leave in conditioner should be applied to the hair. It is important that you choose a good leave in conditioner that is good for your hair type so as to have beautiful strands.
Leave in conditioners come in different forms. They could come in sprays, lotions and cream. Note that leave in conditioners are either protein or moisture based. If u have a weak hair then you should use a protein based leave in for strength and if you have a dry hair then you should use a moisture based leave in. If you are not sure of the one to use then probably you should use a moisture based leave in because black hair tends to be on the dryer side. Its okay to use a little of both but just make sure to find the one that works best for your hair.

Leave in conditioners are used after cleansing and deep conditioning the hair. Some leave in conditioners can be used as a daily moisturizer. i use mine as a daily moisturizer. Please note that not all leave in conditioners are suitable for daily use as they are heavy and could weigh down the hair or make it greasy.

EXAMPLES OF GOOD LEAVE IN CONDITIONERS

  • Cantu shea butter leave in conditioning repair cream (protein)
  • Luster's S-curl no drip activator moisturizer (moisture)
  • Aphogee keratin and green tea restructurizer (protein) -Not suitable for daily use
  •  Beautiful textures tangle taming leave in conditioner (moisture)

PRACTICAL TIPS ON HOW TO BENEFIT FROM YOUR LEAVE IN CONDITIONER
  1. Choose a leave in conditioner that is good for your hair type. Like i said earlier, if your hair is weak then use protein based but if your hair is dry then use a moisture based. You could mix the both......whatever works best for your hair. If you are just starting a hair journey, i suggest that you experiment a little and see what is good for your hair.
  2. Apply leave in after you are done cleansing and deep conditioning.
  3. Squeeze out excess water from hair before applying leave in conditioner but do not allow hair to be completely dry before you apply it. Apply it to a damp hair and do it in sections so as to get the product on the hair properly.
  4.   Focus on the ends of your hair. For instance, when cleansing your hair with a shampoo your main focus is the base and your scalp. However, when you want to apply a leave in the root and tip should be your priority. This is because the tip is the oldest part of your hair and needs the support of the product more.
  5. Like i said earlier, some leave in can be used as a daily moisturizer but make sure that the product is not the type that would weigh your hair down if used daily.

I hope you found this post helpful. dont forget to care for your.....

My Bed Time Routine

How do you keep your hair if you are about to go to bed. Do you just lay on your bed with your hair like that? If you sleep with your hair that way then you are doing it wrong. It is necessary you prep your hair before going to bed just like you do for your skin. Most of us make the mistake of paying more attention to our skin care, pedicure and manicure, even our teeth whilst neglecting our hair just because we can cover it up with extensions, caps, hats  e.t.c . It is very essential to make sure that our hair is well prepped for bed before taking your night rest                           REASONS WHY HAIR SHOULD BE PREPPED FOR BED Hair that is not kept well for the night will leave your hair in a bad shape the next morning. Moisturizing and Sealing

WHAT IS MOISTURIZING?  Moisturizing is a process whereby a moisturizing product is applied to the hair especially the tip to help keep the hair well hydrated. A well moisturized hair does not tend to get dried easily and is not so prone to breakage because dry hair is one of the factors of hair breakage. WHAT IS SEALING? Sealing is a process where a small amount of oil is applied to the hair especially the ends  to lock in the moisture. This oil enables the moisture to be sealed into the hair fibers and keep the hair hydrated for longer.           WHEN SHOULD HAIR BE MOISTURIZED AND SEALED Moisturizing our hair once a week will not meet the moisture requirement our hair needs in other to stay healthy especially black hair which is prone to been dry. Furthermore, due to our climate, our hair tends to evaporate moisture quickly. Even a hair that has undergone chemical processes such as relaxing and colour treatment will lose ...
