So Lets come to the post of today...
A hair regimen is basically a routine of hair care practices you perform on your hair. The aim of having a hair regimen to to achieve a healthy hair. Any hair regimen that is not doing your hair any good should be dumped in the trash. My hair regimen is nothing fancy or over the top.
                                             MY HAIR REGIMEN
  • I wash my hair once a week from week 1to week 10 after relaxer  with elglittas hair wonder shampoo and then i wash my hair from week 11 to 20 after relaxer once in three weeks. ( 20 weeks is how long i stretch my relaxer)
  • I wear protective styles like buns, updo, pigtails, wigs almost all the time. i let my hair down once or twice a week.
  • I deep condition every week with Motions CPR protein Reconstructor and use Beautiful textures tangle taming leave in conditioner with my hair damp.
  • I moisturize my hair daily with beautiful textures and seal with olive oil.
  • I use ors creamy aloe shampoo to clarify once a month or once in two months
  • I use Mamiya organics Neutralizing shampoo to neutralize my hair when i relax/texlax
  • I comb my hair once a week on my wash day. I detangle my hair during the week with my fingers. I also use coconut oil to pre-poo

So there you have it.......my hair regimen

                                     HOW TO BUILD YOUR OWN HAIR REGIMEN
Building a hair care regimen requires a bit of trial and error. It can be an overwhelming task in regards to finding hair products your hair needs and hair practices that will fit your schedule. i have laid out a few steps that will make it easier and help you build the basis of your hair regimen.

  1. KNOW YOUR HAIR TEXTURE: Knowing your hair texture should be the first step in building your hair routine. Reason being that hair products or hair practices that work for someone with fine/thin hair might not work for someone with coarse hair, so it is for someone with medium textured hair. For example, someone with fine/thin hair might have to moisturize once in two days to avoid hair been weighed down while someone with coarse hair will have to do it daily or even morning and night to meet their hair moisture needs.
  2. EXAMINE THE CONDITION OF YOUR HAIR: Know the condition of your hair and what your hair needs. Examine the practices that is  depriving you from having a healthy hair. If your hair is experiencing breakage it might be due to moisture/protein imbalance, dry hair, combing hair too hard or manipulating the hair too much. So check those practices and stop them.
  3. DEEP CONDITIONING: Like i said before in the post on deep conditioning, some ladies feel that it is something that should be done on a specially occasion but deep conditioning is something that has to be done once a week or at most once in three weeks. It helps to achieve healthy hair. Go to the post on deep conditioning to see practical tips on how to go about it.
  4. MOISTURE/PROTEIN BALANCE: This is something most ladies do not know about. It is essential to have a balance between this two so as to have healthy strands. One cannot do without the order that is how important it is for your hair. You can also go to the post on moisture/protein balance to know more about it.
  5. PROTECTIVE STYLING: This includes wigs, buns, pigtails, updo e.t.c. protective styling helps you to minimize manipulation of hair. When hair is manipulated too much it results to breakage. it also helps to reduce breakage.
  6.  STICK TO YOUR HAIR REGIMEN: When you finally have a hair regimen, do make sure you follow it up to achieve the desired result. You might be tired or busy but find a way to stick to the regimen someway somehow.
  7. UPDATE: When you  are into your healthy hair journey you will discover that your hair will definitely change. For example, you might need little or more of a hair product or you might have to work your hair in sections to avoid tangling. So it is okay to adjust your hair regimen to meet your hair needs.

                               ITEMS NEEDED TO CREATE YOUR HAIR REGIMEN

* a sulfate free shampoo as your regular shampoo
* a clarifying shampoo
*a neutralizing shampoo- thats when you relax/texlax. if you are going natural you dont need it.
* hair conditioner. U need both protein and moisture based
* leave in conditioner protein and moisture based
*oil for sealing
* wide tooth comb
*satin scarf

You are welcome to try my own regimen but do note that peoples hair differs and what might work for me might not work for you.
I hope this post was helpful to someone out there. Did you just build your  hair regimen  or you already have a hair routine of your own. Do share with me in the comment section. Till my next post, dont forget to care for your hair.

My Bed Time Routine

How do you keep your hair if you are about to go to bed. Do you just lay on your bed with your hair like that? If you sleep with your hair that way then you are doing it wrong. It is necessary you prep your hair before going to bed just like you do for your skin. Most of us make the mistake of paying more attention to our skin care, pedicure and manicure, even our teeth whilst neglecting our hair just because we can cover it up with extensions, caps, hats  e.t.c . It is very essential to make sure that our hair is well prepped for bed before taking your night rest                           REASONS WHY HAIR SHOULD BE PREPPED FOR BED Hair that is not kept well for the night will leave your hair in a bad shape the next morning. Your hair will be messed up the next morning which will give you the task of keeping it back in shape. Sleeping with your hair just like that can result to matting and tangling of the hair w...

Moisturizing and Sealing

WHAT IS MOISTURIZING?  Moisturizing is a process whereby a moisturizing product is applied to the hair especially the tip to help keep the hair well hydrated. A well moisturized hair does not tend to get dried easily and is not so prone to breakage because dry hair is one of the factors of hair breakage. WHAT IS SEALING? Sealing is a process where a small amount of oil is applied to the hair especially the ends  to lock in the moisture. This oil enables the moisture to be sealed into the hair fibers and keep the hair hydrated for longer.           WHEN SHOULD HAIR BE MOISTURIZED AND SEALED Moisturizing our hair once a week will not meet the moisture requirement our hair needs in other to stay healthy especially black hair which is prone to been dry. Furthermore, due to our climate, our hair tends to evaporate moisture quickly. Even a hair that has undergone chemical processes such as relaxing and colour treatment will lose ...
